Italy Day 3

img_1828-2

Breakfast: Half of a take away gluten free ciabatta I got yesterday from Piccola Oasi stuffed full of rectangular bacon. The bacon fitted perfectly (2×1 each set) – match made in heaven 😍😍😍

Snack: More stratciatella gelato, perfect source of energy for shopping👗👠👜

Lunch: What a cute little restaurant with so many unexpected joys, and walking distance from the shopping mall 📍The food was all cooked fresh and made to order following a menu of delicious combinations.

Although the obvious language barrier, it was really interesting trying to read the allergen information/certificate given in the front of the menus, comparing it to UK ones.  (I know I am a weirdo)

Pici (a thick hand rolled spaghetti made with corn flour and water) with cheese and pepper seems to be a common dish. Although Pici sounds like it would be possible to find gluten free, this has proved impossible so far but the restaurant suggested that I could have it with gluten free pasta. I don’t like cold cheese so it was a lovely way of being able to try the cheese that is produced locally. A UK restaurant of this size would never have gluten free pasta so I was very surprised to be offered it!!

I am a creature of habit, what more can I say. The one at the restaurant was better than the hotel though, as I think they used a few types of cheese in it. I feel like I am 8 years old again and ordering plain pasta with cheese because I wouldn’t eat anything on the menu 🙈

Although my diet here may have a serious lack of vegetables, I refuse to let chocolate go off the menu despite it melting within five seconds of purchase 🍫 perfect to go with biscottini from Piccola Oasi👌🏼
